Weekly Review: Myles goes home

Billboards number 1's was the theme and mostly the performances have begun to fair better than before. Looks like these contestants needed to be pushed into a theme to really show who they were.

On a day when Miley Cyrus was a mentor (although people questioned why she would be mentoring them she wasn't too bad) there were performances that definitely stood out while others fizzled. The performances that became the matter of survival to make it to Idol's Summer tour.
Lee Dewyze proved he isn't always uncomfortable while on stage. His jazzy performance of The Letter was one of the week's standouts along with Crystal Bowersox's vocally charged performance of Joplin's Me And Bobby McGee.

It was only more than obvious who would be going home this Wednesday and we were all just waiting for it. We were also expecting this week's results show to be flooded by teen idols who performed their current singles. However we weren't expecting Simon to rip away Paige Miles' last chance performance for a shot at the save. Whether it was harsh and whether or not Paige's vocal abilities ( or sudden lack thereof) were the reason for her elimination we don't know but we're expecting another reasonable elimination next week where the contestants will be singing R&B/Soul with Usher as their mentor. Can't wait.

Weekly Review: Brown goes home

So The Rolling Stones became quite an interesting theme giving America quite a few good performances. Lee Dewyze was once again our favorite with his performance of Beast Of Burden. Andrew Garcia also gave us an intense performance of Give Me Shelter . Crystal Bowersox chose a much more interesting song that displayed more of her amazing talent since going live.
On the results show Lacey Brown was sent home which was definitely expected given her continually boring performances. Orianthi and Ke$ha gave rather mediocre performances. '07 Idol winner David Cook returned with his band singing The Rolling Stones classic Jumpin' Jack Flash and instantly stole not only the show but the week.
Not quite sure what next week's theme will be but I am looking forward to it. I'm hoping that with the theme set out for this years contestants they will be headed towards a more interesting road. And yes, once again I'm looking forward to whatever Lee brings to the table for next week.

Make sure you turn on GAC this coming Thursday. Danny Gokey, a favorite from Idol last season, will be appearing on the show GAC Nights!

Weekly Review: Top 12 is chosen

So another week of performances rolled in for 2010 and another round of disappointments followed. The only stand out was Lee Dewyze and I rather enjoyed Todrick Hall's Somebody To Love. Tim Urban's performance of Hallelujah was alright but touched nothing of performances of that song from the past. The girls (although appraised this year) have failed to impress despite the powerhouse of Crystal Bowersox's voice.)
The results show gave us a long overdue performance from Scott MacIntyre and Matt Giraud which easily showed us what we're missing from this season. There also arrived the unveiling of the Top 12. Alex lambert went home which seemed like a typical choice, so did Katelyn Epperly. But then Todrick Hall and Lilly Scott also were sent packing. Although I wasn't one to rave about these two performers I just didn't think that they deserved to be voted off so early.
So next week Idol brings us the theme of the Rolling Stones and a performance from David Cook. Can't wait to see if this years contestants can outshine an Idol of the past...
