Album Review: Archuleta does Christmas

Christmas From The Heart

Anyone who experienced the 2008 season of American Idol knows exactly the fan base young David Archuleta gathered. That fan base was sure happy when he announced not only his debut album but also a CD anyone, any age could listen to throughout the glorious holidays!

Christmas From The Heart is a CD full of the greatest Christmas songs and Archuleta's voice displays the power of the lyrics. Although not widely publicized, this Christmas album is not in anyway cheesy but it allows Archuleta's vocal talent, and the gentle music to make it a success.

One of the best songs would be O Come All Ye Faithful, where Archuleta gently sings over strings that exude the effectiveness of the spiritual content of the song. Another highlight would be Riu Riu Chiu which is sung in a fluid verse of Spanish.

This album is perfect to play for the Christmas season and also all year round. I love Christmas so much and with the release of David Archuleta's CD it brings more anticipation for it to arrive.

Idol Spotlight

Michael Johns

Michael Johns was a stand out from the moment he auditioned. He went through the seventh season effortlessly until his shocking elimination. He had a great voice, a huge amount of talent and great stage presence.

Michael Johns released his debut album Hold Back My Heart in earlier this year and gave a us a vastly different sound and a moment that brought us back to the music that we all love. His voice is wonderful and his lyrics grip you. He has not failed to grab the attention of his fan base and it surprises me that he has not gained much fascination from the public eye. He has however been touring and has also left his mark on Idol. He is the contestant that should never have been eliminated. The contestant that makes us all wonder what could have been had he stayed longer.

Michael Johns will never be forgotten and his music will continue to please. He is one of a kind, a man of mass talent and charisma. Michael Johns cannot be denied as one great singer and will always be one of the best contestants ever.

Idol Spotlight:

David Cook

Having won the Idol crown in 2008 David Cook proved that you can be a true musician and still win such a mainstream contest. His unique mixes of the various songs he performed paved the way for other Idols after him with the same intentions. He made his name as being one of the most talented contestants and took home the title in a landslide.

After winning Cook released his now platinum self titled album and went on a lengthy tour and already has plans to record his new album. He has won over fans by his continual time spent with them and his dedication to both his music as well as his live show. He has shared himself with the crowds that go to see him and has shown himself as he truly is, transparently as he once said he wished to.

Cook will no doubt always be remembered as one of the most successful, most iconic Idols from all the AI seasons and will be a mainstay on billboard charts with every album he releases. This was obvious when after Idol he became the first artist since The Beatles to have eleven songs on the charts.

With his commitment to music he will progress as an artist and will continue to display his amazing musical talent and will give the world a taste of what is missing: true music.

You can see David Cook on Carrie Underwood's holiday special on FOX at 8/7central. You can also see his upcoming tour dates over at his official site. His album is currently in stores now.

And the other for Best Country Collaboration With Vocals for her song I Told You So with country music legend Randy Travis. Kelly Clarkson got a nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album for her album All I Ever Wanted. In the past Kelly has gotten five nominations and came out with two wins.
Ruben Studdard got a nomination for Best Musical Show Album for his record titled Ain't Misbehavin'. Ruben has received two nominations in the past but no win.

Adam Was featured in this month's People magazine! Be sure to pick it up. Its on stands NOW!!!!!!

Album Review: Allison Iraheta's debut

Just Like You

Allison Iraheta proved herself on American idol to be not only one of the youngest contestants but also proving herself as one of the best singers during the course of the season.

Her debut album Just Like You was released December 1st and it provides a more pop version of Iraheta than we saw on Idol. Her voice has a true rock edge and that is what shines throughout the record. The album gives her tracks to shine with her powerful vocals and occasionally reaches a peak of good music.

You Don't Know Me (a track co-written by Iraheta) is one of the best songs on the album. It shows a rock side of her and displays Iraheta's budding talent and songwriting capabilities. Pieces is another highlight offering verses of an emotional vocal where it seems like she is actually feeling the lyrics which she is singing. Songs like Trouble Is, Scars, and No One Else show her mature talent and amazing range at such a young age.

Iraheta will gain much attention for the progress of her voice and if all she has is going forward from this album she will no doubt become a success. She has nowhere to go really except up. Her album is more mature and much better than most of the music played on TV and she should get more attention for it. The album is a success and will give her a lot more than just a few years in the music industry. If she fades out with that voice I don't really know what's happened to music today.
